Coronation Celebration
On Sunday 7 May Baltic Square will be transformed for a celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III. To celebrate this momentous moment in history, we are hosting a celebration on the evening of the Windsor Castle Concert. Residents and visitors to the area will have the opportunity to gather on Baltic Square to watch the concert on large screen. Bring along your deck chair and a picnic to enjoy the celebrations.
Students from Gateshead College's performing arts courses will entertain guests throughout the evening.
Baltic Contemporary Arts Centre will open during the evening to provide essential facilities including accessible toilets. They will also be serving a range of hot and cold drinks and tasty pre-packaged snacks including coronation cookies.
The family friendly event will bring the party atmosphere from London to the banks of the River Tyne, starting at 7pm.
Twice during the evening Gateshead's Millennium Bridge, the Tyne Bridge and Swing Bridge will be lit up in a spectacular light show. People can be part of the light show with light up wristbands. A limited number of wristbands are available. Wrist bands are free and will be allocated to those who register online (opens new window) first. Any remaining wristbands will be handed out on a first come first serve basis on the night.
