Road closure alert
A section of Cross Lane in Dunston, Gateshead has had to be closed to all motor traffic for the next four weeks.
Network Rail contractors are on site working to carry out structural repairs to the rail bridge that spans the carriageway, close to the junction with A1114 Handy Drive.
Network Rail have arranged for temporary supports to be put in place, and this has required us to close the road. However the shared use foot and cycle path will remain open.
A signed diversion will be in operation while the road is closed, and we will work with Network Rail to ensure local businesses, including Metrocentre, are kept fully informed.
