Oviva Weight Management no text

Adults who live in Gateshead can now access free specialist support to help them lose weight and build healthy habits.

The Oviva Weight Management programme provides individuals with a personalised healthcare plan and one-to-one support from qualified clinicians, as well as access to the Oviva app. The app features food, activity and progress trackers, helpful resources and connection to a group chat, giving users the opportunity to share their experiences and support each other through their weight loss journeys.

The free 12-week programme is delivered remotely, offering individuals flexible appointments and the ability to access support from home through the app or over the phone, at a time to suit them. Support is also available in a number of different languages.

Alice Wiseman, Gateshead's Director of Public Health, said: "The stress, anxiety and lack of routine experienced throughout the pandemic has led to many people forming habits that are harmful in the longer term, particularly in relation to food and drink. As a result, we've seen an increase in people carrying excess weight.

We all know that losing weight can boost your energy and improve your confidence, as well as reducing your risk of various health problems - but it's often easier said than done. You're much more likely to be successful with the right support and the benefit of the Oviva Weight Management programme is that the plan you'll follow is tailored to you."

Oviva works with local authorities and NHS services across the country to deliver weight management services. To date, their programmes have helped over 100,000 people and they have plenty of success stories to share.

There are limited spaces available for people aged 18+ and living in Gateshead. You must sign up by 31 March 2022.
