Letter to residents - impact of flyover demolition on trees

Date: 11 June 2026

Dear resident

We would like to inform you that, as part of the upcoming flyover demolition works, it is necessary to install a protective screen to safeguard the buildings from any flying debris.

Unfortunately, to accommodate this, we will need to remove the row of trees running alongside Peareth Court. We don't know the exact date this is going to happen, but it is likely to be soon. We fully appreciate that this news may be disappointing and understand the value these trees bring to residents. Please be assured that, once the works are complete, we are committed to working with residents to explore options for future planting and enhancing the environment.

There will be some impact on car parking in order to facilitate the works. We are working on a plan to minimise the impact to residents and we will update you further when we have more information.

All our news updates on the flyover demolition project can be found at Gateshead Highway (A167) flyover.
