Letter re stock condition survey

Date: 30 June 2025

Dear resident

We need to carry out a stock condition survey of your home. The survey is to verify the information that we hold about the age and condition of various elements - for example, the kitchen, bathroom, electrical wiring and heating system. It is essential that we carry out this survey as it will help us in the planning of future investment and maintenance work.

A surveyor from a company called Building Surveyors Ltd (BSL) who are working on behalf of Gateshead Council will visit you to carry out this survey. BSL will start surveying properties from early July, and this will be a rolling surveying programme which will continue over the next few months.

You may be contacted to arrange an appointment for the survey. If you are not in when BSL visit, they will leave a calling card with details on how to contact them to make an appointment. If you receive a card, you must call BSL to arrange an appointment. However, if you would like to arrange access with BSL in advance, please contact Building Surveyors Limited on 07955 288 879 or email [email protected].

Please do not contact Gateshead Council to make an appointment. All appointments must be made directly to BSL on the above contact details.

The surveyor will make notes and take photographs as they go, so that our records can be updated. Please note that they will not be able to give advice as to whether any elements should be replaced.

If you need to report a repair or have a repairs enquiry, please contact Repairs on 0800 408 6008 or text 0762 480 4167, starting your message with "REPAIR". Alternatively, send an email to [email protected].

Anyone working with, or on behalf of, Gateshead Council will carry identification. Make sure you ask to see it before allowing anyone into your home. If you are concerned that someone may not be genuine, do not let them in and contact Northumbria Police on 101.

If you have any questions about this letter, please contact us on 0191 433 2183 or 0191 433 5455, or email [email protected]
