Date: 17 January 2025
Dear resident
Last year we wrote to you and held a number of drop-in sessions as we engaged with residents about the future of Park, Peareth and Priory Court.
Following this, Gateshead Council's Cabinet approved a decision to decommission the three blocks. It also agreed to the creation of a Strategic Regeneration Plan to create new council homes within the boundary of the town centre, with residents of Park, Peareth and Priory Court having priority to the properties.
We are committed to keeping customers fully engaged and involved in the process to create those new homes and to decommission the blocks. As part of that process, we are to carry out some information gathering around households and housing aspirations. To do this we are to carry out a consultation event visiting all properties to speak to residents. Alongside this, there will also be drop-in sessions, held at 24 Priory Court, which we have set up as a community space where officers and residents can meet.
This consultation event will take place over three days between Wednesday 22 and Friday 24 January 2025 (9am to 4pm). If you are not available during this time, please let us know.
The information we collect will help us understand the make-up of all households and what kind of housing offer you would ideally like going forward. We require this information to help us understand the types and styles of property that we will need to provide as part of the Strategic Regeneration Plan.
If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment with one of our officers, please contact the Multi-storey Team on 0191 433 5414 or by email at [email protected].
