Aim: To equip practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise signs of alcohol, substance use, and vaping in young people, and to respond safely and effectively using current evidence, local pathways, and good practice.

Learning objectives
By the end of the session delegates will:
- gain an understanding of the reasons why young people may use alcohol, substances, or vape
- be able to identify current trends, emerging issues, and the effects of commonly used substances in young people
- recognise potential signs or symptoms of substance or vaping use and know how to approach conversations safely and appropriately
- understand the role of Positive Futures and be able to signpost or refer young people to appropriate support services
- develop awareness of local referral pathways and what to do when concerns escalate
- reflect on their own practice and increase confidence in responding to substance‑related concerns

- any staff who work with young people or who would like to raise their awareness about alcohol, substance use, and vaping in young people
