General election
A UK Parliamentary (general) election took place on Thursday 4 July 2024.
The purpose of the election was to elect Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Commons.
Parliamentary constituencies
This election brought into force the new Parliamentary constituency boundaries.
The new Parliamentary constituencies are:
- Blaydon and Consett
- Gateshead Central and Whickham
- Jarrow and Gateshead East
- Washington and Gateshead South
One of the new Parliamentary constituencies is wholly within Gateshead. The other three constituencies will cross local authority boundaries where the new MPs will represent residents from both Gateshead and a neighbouring authority.
