Direct payment support service
Gateshead Council have a direct payment support service in place to offer any support needed to anyone who would like or already has a direct payment. The services that the support service offer include:
- discussions to understand if a direct payment is right for you
- we can provide guidance and assistance with completing the required and essential administrative paperwork
- we can help you understand your role and responsibilities of being an employer
- we can process your payroll - we have a dedicated team that can act as your payroll provider. We can process wages, tax and National insurance, submit RTI's to HMRC, process sick pay, maternity/paternity pay and annual leave. We are also able to complete pension declarations on your behalf and enrol your employees into a nominated pension scheme
- recruitment and HR support - if you don't already have a person to become your employee, we are able to support you with recruitment. This includes supporting you to write job adverts and job profiles. We then advertise the job in various places such as the Gateshead Council website. We are able to support you with interviewing the candidates if you would like support.
- we can process DBS checks and set up Employers Liability Insurance on your behalf
- we can support you with the financial aspects of a direct payment
- we can help you understand what checks to make if you choose to use a care agency
