Secondary School offers - 1 March 2021

If you live in Gateshead and applied online for your child's secondary school place, you will receive an email on 1 March 2021 confirming what school your child has been offered.

All applicants that live in Gateshead will also receive a letter confirming their offer. Letters will be posted second class on Friday 26 February 2021. We cannot guarantee what day you will receive your letter as that will depend on the postal service in your area.

How to accept the place offered

If you applied on a paper application form, you must complete and return the form attached to your letter by 12 March 2021 to confirm if you wish to accept this place.

If you applied online, you must log onto the parent portal to accept the place offered. You can do this by clicking on the link contained in the email that you will receive on 1 March 2021.

If you are refused

If your child is refused a place at one or more of the schools requested, your child will automatically be placed on the waiting list for these schools. The letter you receive will also explain what the next steps are and how you can appeal against the decision.

XP Gateshead

XP Gateshead is a new academy for Gateshead from the XP School Trust that follows the Expeditionary Learning model of their existing schools in Doncaster.

XP Gateshead are now taking details from parents that are interested in applying for a Year 7 place for their child in September 2021.

More details can be found on their website at https://xpgateshead.org/admissions-sep-2021/

Important:

  • we recommend you apply to three schools. Applying for only one school does not improve your chance of being offered a place at the school
  • check all the details you enter on your form are correct, including the details of any older siblings your child may have, already attending the school you apply to.
  • you must complete the 'Faith details' section of the form if you apply to a Catholic school
  • we cannot guarantee your child a place at any school you apply to, even if you live in the catchment area or have a sibling already at the school, as this will depend upon the number of applications the school receives
  • If any of your preferences is for a school outside Gateshead, please ensure you read their admission policy and arrangements before you apply
  • you must submit your application by 31 October 2020
