The Comfrey Project

We are a community garden and indoor space where we support the physical and mental wellbeing of local refugees and people seeking asylum. Visitors can expect a friendly welcome, a warm room, a hot drink and a biscuit, free wifi and the chance to chat with others people at the centre.
Depending who is in the Centre on the day we may be able to offer Arabic, Farsi/Dari, Spanish, French, Kurdish and Turkish translation.
We can offer tips and hints about gardening. We signpost and refer out to relevant organisations for other support.
In addition, Crossings Music Group will be using the Windmill Hills Centre on Monday evenings 6pm until 8.30. They offer a Warm Space alongside a musical activity. No experience is needed, visitors can choose to join in or not, but should not expect peace and quiet.
The centre is on bus routes 1A, 1B, 28A, 49, 49A, 49C, 93, 94 and 97. There is a bus stop right outside the centre, a few minutes from Gateshead Interchange.
