The Wailes Room at Gateshead Central Library

Gateshead Central Library offers a number of room hire options to suit a range of requirements.  The rooms are located are the first floor and can be accessed by both stairs and a lift.  There is a free public car park adjacent to the main entrance, but please note there is a time limit.  On-street parking is advisable for hires exceeding 3 hours.  There are toilets located on the first floor including a disabled toilet accessible with a radar key.  The rooms are available to book during library opening hours.  A discounted rate is applicable to Gateshead Council services and Gateshead-based not-for-profit organisations.

Caedmon Hall

Caedmon Hall is a large flexible space with moveable seating, including a raised theatre-style tiered seating section.  With excellent acoustics it is an ideal venue for smaller music events and rehearsals.  It is also available for meetings, talks and workshops.  The hall is equipped with a PA system that will support up to 4 microphones and presentation equipment including a large LCD TV or projector and screen.  Lighting levels can be adjusted depending on the nature of the event and our staff will advise on this.  Refreshments can be provided at an additional cost.  The hall has a capacity for events for up to 180 people, depending on layout.

Wailes Room is the larger of the three meeting rooms available at Central Library.  It is ideal for meetings, training sessions, presentations and workshops.  There is an LCD screen for presentations and flip charts or display boards are available on request.  The room has a small kitchen area with tea/coffee making facilities.  The room can be set up boardroom, classroom or theatre style for up to 40 people depending on layout.

 

 

 

Dodds Room

Dodds Room
Dodds Room is available for smaller meetings, training sessions, presentations and workshops.  A TV screen, flip charts or display boards are available on request.  The room has a smaller kitchen area with tea/coffee making facilities.  It is ideal for boardroom style meetings but can also be set up classroom or theatre style for up to 25 depending on layout.

Wailes and Dodds Rooms are divided by a partition wall, which can be opened to make a larger space ideal for networking events.

 


Sowerby Room

The Sowerby Room is a small room suitable for meetings of up to four people. It is a popular room for one to one counselling sessions and interviews.

Blaydon Library

Ridley Room

The Ridley Room is ideal for meetings, presentations and talks with capacity for 40. The room has an LCD TV screen to which a laptop can be connected , flip chart, air conditioning, accessible toilet and a small kitchen area with water boiler and crockery.
