Business parking permits

A business is entitled to buy a permit if it is operating from an address in a permit parking zone and their vehicle is needed for business use.

The vehicle using the permit must be either a:

  • passenger vehicle, constructed or adapted for the carriage of not more than twelve passengers.
  • goods carrying vehicle, the height of which does not exceed 3.2 meters (10'), the length exceed 6 meters (19' 8') or maximum gross weight exceed 3 tonnes.

A business can only apply for a maximum of two permits.

Permits are not required for motorcycles, which may park free of charge in permit bays.

Permits can be applied for by post. Please include your payment (cheque or postal order made payable to Gateshead Council) with supporting documentation and send to:
