Co-production Framework

How the Framework was created

This framework was co-produced with support from Inclusion North, an organisation that champions inclusion for people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and family carers. Together, we held 8 co-production sessions with 20 participants and 13 community conversations involving 176 people across Gateshead.

We heard directly from people with lived experience, local charities, and community groups, including:

  • People's Voice
  • Age UK Gateshead
  • Healthwatch
  • Gateshead Foodbank

and many others.

Our principles

In Gateshead, co-production means:

  • working together to find solutions
  • involving people every step of the way
  • making change happen through action
  • constant improvement based on feedback
  • celebrating diversity and valuing every voice

Why this matters

People told us that when co-production is missing, they feel:

  • powerless and not in control
  • unsupported when services stop
  • unheard and misunderstood
  • that services don't meet their needs
  • that some communities are overlooked

We want to change that together.

Our commitment

Our Integrated Adults and Social Care Service will:

  • understand, value and embrace co-production across all teams
  • be open and honest about what's possible
  • involve the right people and remove barriers to participation
  • be inclusive and accessible in how we work
  • review and report back regularly - moving from "You said, we did" to "We said, we did."
