People's Voice Champion - candidate specification
This document explains a volunteer role with Gateshead Council.
The role is called People's Voice Champion.
It is for people who live or work in Gateshead.
What the role is
You will use your experience to help improve Adult Social Care services.
You will work with the council and your community.
What co-production is
Co-production means working together as equals.
People who use care services, carers, and staff make decisions together.
Everyone's voice matters.
What a People's Voice Champion does
You will:
- help improve Adult Social Care in Gateshead
- raise awareness about co-production
- use your experience to help others get involved
- go to 4 meetings a year (each about 2 hours)
- share your ideas and experiences
- talk to decision-makers
- help run workshops and talks
- make sure your community's voice is heard
- help check progress and plans
- share stories through blogs or videos
- take part in training to support your role
Who can apply
You can apply if you:
- have experience with adult social care (yourself, a family member, or as a carer)
- live in Gateshead
- want to help improve care services
- are fair when sharing other people's views
- are a good team member
- are willing to learn and work with others
Time needed
- meetings happen 4 times a year
- you may need extra time to read meeting notes
- meeting places may change
- any travel expenses will be paid
