Skip permit
To place a builder's skip on a public highway, you will need to apply for a permit using the form below. If you place a skip on a highway without applying for a permit, you could be subject to enforcement action.
Only skip hire companies can apply for a skip permit. If you need a skip, the company you choose to hire the skip from will arrange the permit.
A permit is not required from us to put a skip on private land, for example a driveway.
Skip permits are valid for up to 28 days, 14 days on a grass verge (between April and September)
You can apply for a renewal if the skip is needed for longer. When applying for a renewal you will need to give the case reference on your confirmation email from your original submission (not the reference on your skip permit).
If you have already placed a skip on a public highway without a permit, you will need to apply retrospectively.
Read the guidance about placing a skip on a highway.
