Quiet Room

The Quiet Room is an autism-friendly space located in the main reception area, on the ground floor of Gateshead Civic Centre.

It offers people with autism a quiet and private room when they are visiting the council, or are in the town centre and need to take time out to be away from people in a place specially designed to meet their needs.

Simply furnished and decorated in soothing colours, with a TV screen showing calm and reflective images, it is a space where people can relax and be calm.

Who is it for?

People with autism. It is also available for other users who need a quiet space, such as older people or more vulnerable people.

You don't need to book the room, just request its use at the council's main reception desk. It is available from 9am to 5pm.  If however, you want to book the room in advance for your own use prior to a meeting at the Civic Centre, please contact one of the Autism Supporters at Gateshead Civic Centre.
