Gateshead SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service) provides free, confidential and impartial information, advice and support to children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), as well as their parents and carers.

Our service helps families understand the SEND system and navigate processes relating to education, health and social care. Whether families need support understanding SEN Support, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), school meetings, assessments or their rights and responsibilities, Gateshead SENDIASS is here to help.

We are committed to ensuring that children, young people and families have access to accurate information so they can make informed decisions and actively participate in decisions that affect their lives. We also support children and young people to have their voices heard and to be involved in planning for their future.

Over the past quarter, we have continued to work alongside families across Gateshead, providing one-to-one support, signposting to services, and helping to build positive relationships between families, schools and professionals.
