Pride in Place Programme

The £5 billion Pride in Place Programme was announced by Government in September 2025. The funding will put decision-making power in the hands of local people, offers the flexibility to respond to local needs and opportunities and provides long term funding so communities can put plans together to help rebuild and transform their neighbourhoods.

Beacon Lough and Wrekenton has been selected to receive up to £20 million of funding and support over the next decade through the Pride in Place Programme.

The fund will be aimed at building stronger communities, creating thriving places and empowering local people.

The Beacon Lough and Wrekenton neighbourhood board will lead the development of a 10-year regeneration plan, ensuring local priorities shape investment. The board will work with the wider community, and ensure meaningful engagement with residents, businesses and community organisations shape the 10-year plan, ensuring funding is allocated to meet local priorities. The plan will be submitted to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) in November 2026.

The neighbourhood board brings together residents, workplace representatives, community leaders, and those with a deep connection to the area. One ward councillor and the local MP sit on the board.
