Programme overview

This festive and creative course invites adult learners to make two beautiful seasonal items: a twinkly light tree decoration and a decorative trinket box for gifting. Alongside crafting, learners will build confidence in basic maths skills through practical, hands-on activities.

What learners will gain:

• Creative crafting skills: learn simple techniques to design and assemble festive decorations using accessible materials
• Applied maths skills: engage with everyday numeracy through:
  • measuring and cutting materials accurately
  • estimating quantities and costs
  • planning layouts and symmetry
  • budgeting for craft supplies and gift packaging
• Confidence and enjoyment: learners will leave with two handmade items and the skills to recreate them at home, along with a better understanding of how maths supports creative projects.

Who this course is for

The course is for those 19 years +, unemployed and are a Gateshead resident.

All equipment is provided.

Tutor assessment.
