The Baltic Quarter and land to the east of the town centre has potential for 1,500 homes, plus new offices and work spaces, on over 20 acres of council-owned employment land, powered by renewable energy from the UK's largest urban solar farm and our innovative energy from minewater system. At Gateshead Quays, we're aiming for a vibrant, leisure destination that creates long-term value for Gateshead and the wider North East region.

The Baltic Quarter: Building a vibrant new quarter fit for Gateshead's future

The Baltic Quarter is one of Gateshead's most exciting regeneration projects, bringing new jobs and opportunities to our town. This council owned site, the same size as 30 football pitches, is ready for development now, and could house over 3,000 people in high-quality homes and cater for 30,000m² of office space on Council owned land, supported by Homes England and the North East Combined Authority

The Baltic Quarter is also home to our pioneering District Energy Network - including the UK's largest urban solar farm, along with mine water-generated energy, providing renewable heat and power for our town centre.

Taking forward this landmark project demonstrates our commitment to growth, sustainability and pride of place, helping residents like you to feel proud to call Gateshead home.
