Any Gateshead resident who is eligible for a direct payment personal care budget can choose to employ their own Personal Assistant to help with their day-to-day care. For some, this gives them control of how they spend their care budget in a way that supports their independence.
Personal Assistants play a valuable role. All Personal Assistants are employed directly by the individual and therefore the roles can be very varied depending on their individual need. Personal Assistants roles can include tasks such as:
