Pride Code Breakers
Take part in our Pride in Gateshead Code Breaker activity and try to break the codes for all 10 posters. As well as codes to crack each poster holds part of a story looking at the history of Alan Turing's life. Posters will be available at each event during Pride in Gateshead, 1 - 31 August 2024.

How to play
10 coded messages on different poster designs will be placed at locations at each event. It's completely free to take part, all you need is one of our newly designed key sheets (PDF) [319KB] and a pen or pencil to record your answers. You can pick up a key sheet on the day at each event venue, or you will also be able to download a key sheet. (PDF) [319KB] . If easier though you can just use a plain sheet of paper.
If you prefer to play without paper, smartphone users can use their phone to record answers in a notes app.
How long Gateshead Pride Code Breakers lasts
This Code Breaker activity will run alongside the events already planned for Pride in Gateshead, from 1 - 31 August. People can take part in this activity at anytime throughout the month with the ambition of finding all 10 posters and cracking the codes.
Who can play Gateshead Pride Code Breakers
Our Pride in Gateshead Code Breakers activity is open to anyone (children and adults) and is free to play.
Where to find Code Breaker posters
Chopwell Woods
Chopwell Wood is about 10 miles south west of Gateshead. The road entrance to the car park is in the Hookergate area of High Spen village, off the B6315.
Metro Centre
Metrocentre is Europe's largest indoor mall-style shopping centres, conveniently situated beside the A1 in Gateshead.

Saltwell Park
Fine examples of a Victorian park and a perfect place for the whole family to enjoy. The park has entrances on East Park Road, West Park Road, Saltwell Road South, Saltwell View and Joicey Road.

Trinity Square is a contemporary shopping and leisure centre with a great range of shops, restaurants and entertainment all centred around a contemporary public square.

Baltic Quadrant
Located next to the iconic Gateshead Quays you will be able to find posters at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and Gateshead College Baltic Campus.
Barley Mow and Birtley
Explore the Barley Mow and Birtley area while solving the hidden messages which can be found at Birtley Children's Centre, Birtley Leisure Centre, Birtley Library, Mary Saunders Building and Morrisons.
