We propose to reduce the staffing establishment of this service.
This proposal would result in a 34% reduction in the core Economic Development service and would mean stopping our dedicated work to develop the tech and digital sector and the retail, hospitality and care sector. It would also significantly reduce the council's ability to influence and secure investment from strategic funding streams and undertake the research and analysis necessary for all the service's work.
There is scope to mitigate the impact of this proposal in part or in whole by temporary funding from the Economic Growth reserve.
