Gambling Act 2005
The Council issues premise licences for casinos, betting offices, race tracks, bingo clubs, adult gaming centres (over 18s only) and family entertainment centres (which have machines that children can use).
The Council also issues permits for gaming machines in members' clubs and licensed premises, gaming in members' clubs, prize gaming and unlicensed family entertainment centres and registers small society lotteries.
Statement of Principles
Under Section 349 of the Gambling Act 2005 all Local Authorities are required to produce a 'Statement of Licensing Principles' which sets out the policies and principles that the Council will apply when carrying out its functions under the Act.

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Section 349 of the Gambling Act 2005 and in accordance with the Gambling Act 2005 (Licensing Authority Policy Statement) (England and Wales) Regulations 2006, on 17 December 2015 Gateshead Council will publish a Statement of Principles that are to be applied by the Council in the exercise of its licensing functions under the Act.
The Statement will come into effect on 18 January 2016.and is available for inspection between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday at -
