2008 is the tenth anniversary of Gateshead's most well known sculpture - the Angel of the North. Since it first spread its wings in February 1998, it has become one of the most talked about pieces of public art ever produced. Whatever you think of it - it's hard to imagine the skyline without it.
To mark this milestone, we will be having a year long programme of events in celebration of our much loved landmark and the huge impact it has had on Gateshead and North East England.
To help us celebrate the Angel in real style we are throwing a fun-filled Angel Party |for everyone on Sunday 22 June. This is set to be the highlight of the summer, with family and friends coming together for an amazing celebration.
We've got lots more Angel themed events planned throughout the year – register your details for your very own Angel Alert |and receive information on events as and when they happen throughout the year.
