Pay a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) for dog related offences
You can be given an on-the-spot fine (a fixed penalty notice) for failing to do any of the following;
- produce a dog waste bag upon the request of a police officer, police community support officer or authorised council officer
- immediately remove faeces deposited by dogs on land open to the air to which the public have access
- dispose of dog waste by not placing them in a bin provided for that purpose or for the disposal of waste
- put dogs on a lead when requested to do so by a council officer or a police officer when they are out of control
- keep dogs on a lead at all times in a cemetery or on school grounds.
If you refuse to pay the fine, you could be prosecuted and face a court appearance with a maximum penalty of £1,000.
