Pay a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) for dog related offences

You can be given an on-the-spot fine (a fixed penalty notice) for failing to do any of the following;

  • produce a dog waste bag upon the request of a police officer, police community support officer or authorised council officer
  • immediately remove faeces deposited by dogs on land open to the air to which the public have access
  • dispose of dog waste by not placing them in a bin provided for that purpose or for the disposal of waste
  • put dogs on a lead when requested to do so by a council officer or a police officer when they are out of control
  • keep dogs on a lead at all times in a cemetery or on school grounds.

If you refuse to pay the fine, you could be prosecuted and face a court appearance with a maximum penalty of £1,000.

You will need

  • your Fixed Penalty Notice reference number
  • a credit or debit card
