What you need to do
- As you have tested positive, you must, by law, self-isolate for 10 days beginning from when your symptoms started. The day your symptoms started is day 0.
- If you had no symptoms, you must self-isolate for 10 days from the day of your test. The date of your positive test is day 0.
- From day 5 of your isolation period, you can take daily lateral flow tests (at least 24 hours apart). If your results are negative on 2 consecutive days and you don’t have a high temperature, you can end your self-isolation at that point.
Self-isolation means you must not leave your home at all.
If you live with other people, they must self-isolate for 10 days if they are aged over 18 years and 6 months and they are not fully vaccinated.
If they are aged under 18 years and 6 months, or if they have had 2 doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, they do not have to self-isolate. However, they are strongly encouraged to take a lateral flow test every day for 7 days. If they have a positive lateral flow test result, they must self-isolate. If their lateral flow tests are negative but they develop symptoms, they must arrange a PCR test and self-isolate until they get the results.
