The award of a discretionary £500 self-isolation payment depends on each individual’s circumstances.
To qualify you must:
- have been told by NHS Track and Trace to self-isolate or,
- have been told by NHS Track and Trace or by your child's school or childcare setting that they need to self-isolate and you have had to take time off work to look after them
- provide us with your 8 digit NHS Track and Trace identifier or a copy of the notification to self-isolate sent from your child's school or childcare setting
- be earning a wage or self-employed
- have had a reduction in your income because of the need to self-isolate, due to you not being able to work from home, or because you are not able to work because you have taken time off to look after your child who is self-isolating
- be following the rules about self-isolating
When considering an award, we will take into account factors such as, but not limited to:
- whether you have already been financially affected as a result of covid-19, and how
- whether you can access financial support elsewhere, for example friends or family
- where you live with a partner or other adult, if their income is adequate to cover any loss in your earnings
- your household income and expenses
- any capital you or your partner have
- whether your reduction in earnings or self-employed income has caused you to be unable to meet financial commitments - in particular, but not limited to:
- mortgage payments
- rent payments
- debt or loan repayments, especially if defaulting on any of these is putting your home at risk, or is likely to result in court or legal action against you
You must provide as much information as possible to support your application, including details about your income, expenses, and capital.
We may ask you to provide further evidence before we make a decision on your application.
