Accommodation and hospitality

VIP Services
You will meet and greet guests at hotels and venues and support the hospitality area at competition venues and social events. In addition, assistance will be required to ensure the hospitality area is kept clean and tidy at all times.
Venue: Various venues across Tyne and Wear.
Availability: Minimum of 1 full day or 2 half days between Friday 16 and Friday 23 August.

Hotel Liaison
You will be a point of contact based in one of the accommodation venues and will liaise between teams and event management to provide information and assistance to athletes, team managers, staff and VIPs.
Venue: Various hotels across Newcastle and Gateshead.
Availability: Minimum of 1 full day or 2 half days between Friday 16 and Saturday 24 August.

Sports events and venues

General event volunteer
Join the event management team to ensure the smooth running of the Games. This will involve acting on behalf of the team to provide information and assistance to the public, athletes, supporters and VIPs and helping with the venue set-up and take-down.
Venue: Various venues across Tyne and Wear.
Availability: Minimum of 1 full day or 2 half days between Saturday 17 and Friday 23 August.

Sport site volunteer
Working alongside the site managers and sports managers to deliver the competition element of the Games. This will involve liaison with the public, athletes, supporters and officials at the competition venues. Supporting the sport specific officials, umpires, and administrators with various duties may be required and could include equipment collection, results running, scoring and recording and inputting results.
Venue: Various venues across Tyne and Wear.
Availability: Minimum of 1 full day or 2 half days between Saturday 17 and Friday 23 August.

Team leader
Reporting to the event management team, you will co-ordinate a team of volunteers at a specific site ensuring that all roles are covered and that shift rotations and break patterns are followed. You will provide your team with briefings at the start of shifts and provide a point of contact for enquiries.
Venue: Various venues across Tyne and Wear.
Availability: Ideally available for the duration of the event on the site allocated ranging from 2 - 7 days between Saturday 17 and Saturday 24 August.

Children's activities
Work with the children's activity team assisting with a range of activities throughout the Games such as family activities, games and face painting.
Venue: Various venues across Tyne and Wear.
Availability: Minimum of 1 full day or 2 half days between Saturday 17 and Friday 23 August.

Accreditation Assistant
You will assist the appointed security company with direction of spectators and competitors at venues, ensuring only those with the appropriate accreditation are permitted access to correct zones. In addition, assistance will be required for late accreditation of VIPs and media and distribution of passes.

Availability: Minimum of 1 full day or 2 half days between Saturday 17 and Friday 23 August.

Outdoor event set-up
Working with the event management team to set-up and take-down the course of the Road Race, Donor Run and Cycling.
Venue: Newcastle Quayside

Social and cultural programme

Social events volunteer
Events include the opening ceremony, cultural evening, closing ceremony and gala dinner. Working with the event management team to organise parades, marshalling of routes and venues, organisation of teams into venues and delivery of ceremonies or activities. Reception and hosting duties will include general hospitality and good customer service.

Availability: Opening ceremony Saturday 17 August | Cultural Evening Tuesday 20 August | Closing Ceremony Friday 23 August | Gala Dinner Friday 23 August | All evening shifts

Marketing and PR

Venue Branding and Infrastructure (pre and post event)
Join the communications team to dress the various venues with branding and signage of the event that will make it feel like part of the Games and assist visitors in getting around. Tasks will likely include putting up signage, hanging banners and setting out barriers. Removal of branding and signage and general tidying will be required post-event.

Media assistant
During the Games support is required by the media team in various roles including updating social media and websites, liaising with photographers at venues, distributing results, assisting the media desk and providing written press.

Transport, logistics and Health and Safety

Registration
Work with the event managers to prepare the registration and administration process for the arrival of the teams. Support registration of teams on the opening day of the Games, allocate kit and be a point of contact for any enquiries. 
Venue: Gateshead International Stadium
Availability: Friday 16 and Saturday 17 August

Team Attaché / Interpreter 
You will be appointed to a specific team for the duration of the event to act as a liaison between the team manager and event management on all aspects of the Games including transport, kit, accreditation, competition and social events. You will meet the team on arrival and accompany them to training, competitions and social events, providing translation between the team and those they are dealing with where necessary.
Languages required include all European languages (in particular Spanish, French and German), Arabic, Mandarin, Chinese, Hungarian, Hindi, Persian, Hebrew, Japanese, Russian, Korean, Slovakian and Thai. Some teams will speak English so those with no other language skills are still welcome to apply for this role.
Venue: Various venues across Tyne and Wear.
Availability: Ideally available for the duration of the Games between Friday 16 and Friday 23 August.

Driver
Drivers are required for cars and mini-buses. You must be a minimum of 25 years old and hold a full, clean driving license. You will work with the assigned transport company to transport event staff, officials and VIPs between competition venues, hotels and transport stations. Expert local knowledge would be advantageous to the role.

Arrivals liaison
You will assist with managing athlete arrivals into Newcastle Airport and Central Station, co-ordinating movement of teams to specific accommodation and liaising with teams to orientate them to the Games. Support may be required to compile welcome packs and distribute to allocated venues prior to arrivals.

Availability: Minimum of 1 full day or 2 half days between Thursday 15 and Saturday 17 August. 

Athlete pack and kit distribution
Required to assist the event staff with the sorting and distribution of athlete packs and leisure and competition kit for athletes and team staff. You will also assist with kit organisation and distribution for volunteers where required.
Venue: Gateshead International Stadium plus possible travel to other venues across Tyne and Wear. 
Availability: Minimum of 1 full day or 2 half day between Tuesday 13 and Saturday 17 August.
