Communities and environment privacy notice

Who we are and what we do

We tackle the issues we know most matter to residents like antisocial behaviour, licensing and fly-tipping. We are charged with improving civic pride and clamping down on those who don't treat the borough with respect.

Our officers have powers in certain circumstances to issue on-the-spot fines and deal with issues such as fly-tipping and littering.

Gateshead Council Enforcement Team officers often wear and use body-worn cameras. This is for the collection of evidence to aid prosecutions and to improve officer safety.

Our services cover:

  • community safety
  • community protection and licensing
  • highways and transportation
  • waste services
  • neighbourhood street scene teams including street cleaning
  • waste and recycling
  • passenger transport
  • fleet services
  • parking services
  • on-street CCTV
  • planning and building control
