Windy Nook Nature Park
Windy Nook Local Nature Reserve is a large area of accessible natural greenspace with spectacular panoramic views of Tyneside and the east coast beyond.
In recent years a large amount of works have been carried out to improve the wider Windy Nook site including installing fencing to prevent unauthorized motor bike access, the removal of illegal horse grazing, creating and improving paths and nature conservation operations across the site such as woodland thinning.
The Nature Reserve supports a remnant of acid heath grassland, scrub habitat and a spring fed pond.
The Friends of Windy Nook Nature Park regulary carry out management operations on the Reserve.
