Gateshead by-election

Following the sad death of Councillor Bob Goldsworthy, a by-election will take place for the Bridges ward on Thursday 12 September.

Key dates for the by-election are as follows:

• 7 August - notice of election published
• 15 August, 4pm - nominations close
• 16 August, 4pm  - list of candidates available
• 27 August - deadline to be included on the register of electors in order to vote
• 28 August, 5pm - deadline for new applications to vote by post
• 4 September, 5pm - deadline for new applications to vote by proxy
• 12 September - polling day will take place during usual voting hours, 7am - 10pm
• 12 September - 10pm the poll closes, the count will take place at 10pm
