School governors

School Governors form one of the largest voluntary groups in the country. They offer a rich variety of skills and life experiences and as a core group are accountable for providing the very best care and education for each and every young person in their school.

Governors work as part of a team supporting a school and the Head Teacher to decide the schools policy, help recruit staff and manage budgets.

School governor support

Our dedicated team of governor support officers provides support and guidance to governing bodies to enable them to promote high standards and raise achievement in schools.

You can find out more about the support available and how to become a school governor on the Gateshead Governors website (opens new window).
