Adult Social Care Local Account 2022-2023

I am pleased to present Gateshead Council's 2022-2023 Adult Social Care Local Account. The Local Account is produced annually to tell our residents about the progress we have made against our priorities. It will tell you how we are achieving our vision to work with our communities to enable residents to live thriving lives, be independent and individual, support themselves and each other, and access personalised quality support.

Over the course of 2022-2023 we saw greater demand for services across the whole health and care system, and communities, brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pandemic shone a light on opportunities to do things differently and in a more joined up way with our partners in health, the voluntary and community sector and the independent sector. These are reflected in our new Adult Social Care five year strategy and two year delivery plan.

In future years, our Local Account will reflect on our progress against the strategy and delivery plan and our priorities for the forthcoming year.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone working in or with Adult Social Care in Gateshead, for your continued commitment and dedication.

Councillor Michael McNestry
