We have over 300 courses and training programmes available during the day and evening at venues across Gateshead.

It's never too late to start learning. Anybody can start to learn again. It doesn't matter how well or not you did at school, or whether you enjoyed education then. Lots of older people learn with us even though they might not have had any formal education for decades. We have helped absolute beginners in their nineties!

Courses we offer give learners the opportunity to learn new skills and stimulate new interests. Open up your horizons and enrol today at Learning Skills. Give us a call on 0191 433 8646 or 0191 433 6450.

Programme levels

The levels of all of our programmes are in line with the national framework. We offer accredited and non-accredited programmes at the following levels:

Entry level - A basic introduction to a subject where no previous skills or knowledge are required. Ideal for people who are new to learning or returning after a long time.

Level 1 - An awareness of the subject can be useful but not essential. Foundation skills will be developed which will prepare you for level 2.

Level 2 - Previous skills or knowledge of the subject is essential. A broader range of skills will be acquired, which will develop the ability to work independently.

Level 3 - Competency in the subject is essential. A complex range of skills will be acquired, which will develop the ability to work independently at a high level.
