Nominate your local heroes

Do you know a person or an organisation that goes the extra mile to help others in Gateshead to thrive? If so don't let their hard work go unnoticed - nominate them for a Gateshead Award.
The awards take place annually to recognise the contribution of people within the borough who go the extra mile to help their community and to celebrate all those who make a real difference to the lives of others in Gateshead. A new category has been included in the awards for 2023, Tackling Climate Change, which will recognise the contribution of those helping to improve the sustainability of Gateshead and helping to ensure the borough is carbon neutral by 2030.
The Gateshead Awards 2023 will be sponsored by Gateshead FC, Gateshead College, HYHubs, Northgate Vehicle Hire and Tarmac.
The Mayor of Gateshead, Councillor Dot Burnett, said "We continue to see fantastic examples of people doing extraordinary things to help others and it's really important that these efforts do not go unnoticed. Despite facing difficult circumstances our local communities have continued to come together to help those most in need and Gateshead is more resilient because of the true community spirit that is demonstrated everyday across the borough.
"I'd like to ask everyone to think about who they know that makes a difference to others in Gateshead and would encourage them to nominate these people or organisations for a Gateshead Award."
Nominations close on Friday 3 March 2023 and the categories are:
