Grant funding opportunities for the local Food Network

The cost-of-living crisis in the UK is resulting in unprecedented pressures on people already in poverty.

Despite the support given by the government, thousands of people in Gateshead are being forced to make tough decisions. We want to do more to help our residents, delivering upon our Thrive ambitions to ensure we:

• Put people and families at the heart of everything we do
• Tackle inequality so people have a fair chance
• Support our communities to support themselves and each other
• Work together and fight for a better future for Gateshead
• Invest in our economy to provide opportunities for employment, innovation and growth

In doing so, we will work with our local Food Network to tackle food insecurity and ensure Gateshead residents have access to food.

We recognise our residents will be turning to the Food Network in increasing numbers, at a time when donations appear to be on the decline. Because of this, a new opportunity for grant funding has been announced for the Food Network.
