UK Community Renewal Fund (CRF)

Gov.UK - logoThe UK Community Renewal Fund comprises £220 million of investment across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to pilot new ideas and help shape the future of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund due to be launched in 2022.

The UK Community Renewal Fund aims to support people and communities most in need across the UK. It aims to nurture innovative thinking through pilot programmes and new approaches that align with one, or deliver across several, of the following investment priorities:

  • Investment in skills
  • Investment for local business
  • Investment in communities and place
  • Supporting people into employment

The UK Government has identified us, Gateshead Council, as a lead authority. We will have responsibility for inviting, assessing, prioritising, and submitting bids to government of up to £3m in total. 

Projects must be delivered by March 2022. 

Eligible applicants include:

  • business support organisations; 
  • voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations; 
  • education providers, including Colleges and Universities

All bids must evidence wider impact for multiple individuals, businesses or other organisations.

The Icon for pdf Invitation to Bid [128.8KB] sets out the local requirements we'll use in prioritising submissions to UK Government. This includes:

  • specific local priorities
  • how applications will be assessed 
  • how applications should be submitted

Submitting a bid

Bids must be submitted using the Gov.UK - UK Community Renewal Fund Application Form

Bids submitted in any other format will not be accepted.

Bids must be submitted to us using by midnight on Friday 14 May 2021. Bids submitted after this date will not be considered.
