Delays expected in Gateshead town centre

Junction

Emergency works by telecommunications company BT are likely to cause considerable delays to traffic in Gateshead town centre this weekend.

Emergency repairs to telecommunications equipment located under the road at the junction of High West Street and Regent Street will mean the existing traffic lights will have to be switched off and temporary lights installed.

Engineers from BT will be working right throughout the weekend to correct the fault but warn that their repairs could last into next week.

Motorists are warned to expect delays and are advised to allow more time for their journey and to take an alternative route if possible.
