Local Support Organisations
The PCC has increased funding to our specialist hate crime support services to increase capacity for support and advocacy services. People can self-refer to the service without going via police. The advocacy service can support with reports to police if that is the preferred route.
Connected Voice
Connected Voice Hate Crime Advocacy Service can help adults by:
- Listening to you and understanding what you are going through
- Helping you to get information about your rights and options
- Supporting you to report hate crimes if you want to
- Helping you to be heard and deal with others (e.g. the police, housing, medical services)
- Taking your side
Anyone affected by hate crime who is aged 16 or over and lives in Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North or South Tyneside, or Northumberland can access the Hate Crime Advocacy service.

Streetwise Young People's Project
Streetwise provide practical and emotional support for young victims of crime (aged 11 to 25), including hate crime. The support on offer includes:
- Information, advice and guidance
- One to one counselling
- Peer support groupwork sessions that engage ethnic minority young men affected by crime, exploitation and/or hate crime, focussing on positive relationships, informed decision making, respect, power and consent.

Stop Hate UK was originally established in direct response to the murder of Stephen Lawrence. They offer advice for anyone directly affected by hate crime as well as offering training and resources.
