St Mary's Heritage Centre reopening information
Reopening of St Mary's Heritage Centre
We are pleased to announce that St Mary's Heritage Centre is reopening to the public on Tuesday 22 June. We have missed welcoming visitors to the Centre and hope that you enjoy being back in the space and learning about Gateshead's heritage.
Safety measures will still be in place, including hand sanitiser, face coverings and social distancing. Visitors must continue to comply with NHS Test & Trace either via a check in on the NHS Covid App or by providing contact details to staff. St Mary's Heritage Centre has maintained the 'We're Good to Go' status from Visit Britain, highlighting that all necessary measures and risks have been considered to reopen as a visitor attraction during the ongoing pandemic.
Local history resources including maps, books and a public PC will be available for use. The St Mary's Bookshop will be open for business and we have a small selection of library books available for loan. The permanent exhibition telling the story of Gateshead's history will be on display, and we will also have a temporary photographic exhibition showing off some gems of the Gateshead Archive. You will also be able to pick up a takeaway tea, coffee or soft drink, and we have very limited seating for table service refreshments.
We are not yet able to welcome back our regular user groups: staff will contact the groups to provide an update.
If you are interested in hiring St Mary's for a private event, please contact the Centre by phone or email. Private hire meetings are available but are strictly by appointment only.
We look forward to welcoming you at St Mary's.
