Reopening of libraries

We have missed having visitors at our libraries and although things are going to be different, we are pleased to announce that the following libraries re-opened from Monday 7 September with revised opening times:

Monday to Thursday: 10am to 12noon and 1 to 4pm
Saturday: 10am to 1pm  

Monday to Thursday: 10am to 12noon and 1 to 4pm
Saturday: 10am - 1pm

Central Library
Monday to Thursday: 10am to 12 noon and 1 to 4pm
Saturday: 10am to 1pm  

Monday and Tuesday: 10am to 12 noon and 1 to 4pm
Saturday 10am to 1pm

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 10am to 12noon and 1 to 4pm
Saturday: 10am to 1pm 

Leam Lane
Monday to Thursday: 10am to 12noon and 1 to 4pm (for computers and Ring and Read)

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 10am to 12noon and 1 to 4pm
Saturday: 10am - 1pm

St Mary's Heritage Centre
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 10am to 4pm
Saturday: 10am to 1pm

Volunteer libraries

Monday to Friday: 10am to 1pm


Apologies - Felling Library is not able to reopen on Monday 21 September as planned

Planned hours once the library does open are Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 10am to 2pm

Low Fell

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 10am to 1pm and 2 to 5pm
Wednesday: 10am to 1pm
Saturday: 10am to 12.30pm

Rowlands Gill
Monday to Saturday: 10am to 12noon

Monday to Saturday: 10am to 12noon
plus Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 1pm to 4pm

Monday and Friday: 10am to 2pm

These libraries are open for you to borrow books and use computers. Computers must be booked in advance by telephoning your local library.

Computers are also available for use at Leam Lane Library from Monday to Thursday, 10am to 12 noon and 1 to 4pm. Leam Lane Library will continue to provide a Ring and Read service.

The reopening date for Wrekenton library is still to be confirmed.

In addition, you may view the Archive collections at Gateshead Central Library but you must book a study desk before your visit. To book a study desk at Gateshead Archive, telephone: 0191 433 8420/8430.

As we have already said, library visits will be different. Please watch our video before you visit so that you know what to expect. 

You can continue to use our Ring and Read service to order books to collect or arrange delivery to your door if you are shielding.
