Share experience of life under lockdown

Gateshead under lockdown

Gateshead residents are being asked to share their lockdown experiences to help future generations remember the ongoing crisis.

Gateshead Archive, based in Gateshead Central Library, has various collections celebrating local and family history and plans are in place to create a new collection which captures how the coronavirus pandemic has affected the borough.

Councillor Catherine Donovan, Deputy Leader of the Council, said "These are unprecedented times which have had a huge impact on how we are all having to live our lives. It's really important that we can create a record to help people in the future understand what life has been like throughout this crisis so I'd encourage everyone to contribute something and be part of history.

"For me personally I hope our collection can show the fantastic community spirit that has been demonstrated in so many ways throughout the crisis."

Residents are being asked to share images, videos and any other materials that show daily life during the crisis. As the items will form part of an archived collection please only send images which you have taken yourself and can therefore give permission for us to use. If your picture includes images of other people (especially children), you will need to ensure you have permission from everyone in the picture.
