Teachers celebrated on Thank a Teacher Day

Teachers across Gateshead have been thanked for the difference they make to the lives of young people as part of National Thank A Teacher Day.

Although an annual event to recognise the important role of teaching staff, National Thank A Teacher Day 2020 has particular importance due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Throughout the lockdown all Gateshead schools have remained open providing vital support to children of key workers and to the most vulnerable children, visiting them at home regularly, delivering essentials including school meals and giving virtual lessons to their pupils using the internet.

Councillor Gary Haley, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, has recorded a message of thanks for all teaching staff in Gateshead.
