Thank you video still

Freemen of Gateshead have led tributes to the work being done by Gateshead Council employees throughout the coronavirus crisis.

Freemen of the Borough Brendan Foster CBE, Stephen Miller MBE and Jill Halfpenny, along with performer Joe McElderry, have recorded messages saying thank you to Council employees for going above and beyond during the pandemic. Members of the public have also left lots of positive messages about the work being undertaken by Council employees across the borough.

Councillor Martin Gannon, Leader of the Council, said "We're really grateful to everyone who has left kind words and messages of support for our employees. I'm incredibly proud of the way our workforce has responded to this crisis. All of our employees, especially frontline staff, have continued to do everything they can to help Gateshead residents and businesses.

"I'd like to thank all of our employees for their hard work and I'd also like to say thank you to everyone who has supported our employees throughout this challenging time, it's really appreciated."
