Most restrictions have now been lifted

However, the virus has not gone away and it is still a legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive.

Find out what's allowed under the current rules.

We still need everyone to play their part in preventing the spread of Covid-19, to keep people safe and keep the North East open.

  • get both doses of the vaccine as soon as you can
  • if you have symptoms including a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a change in your sense of taste or smell, stay at home and arrange a test immediately
  • be cautious - wash your hands regularly, wear a face covering, keep your distance from others and meet up outdoors where you can
  • be considerate - continuing to wear a face covering indoors (particularly in crowded areas and on public transport) will not only help keep others safe, but also help those who feel anxious about restrictions lifting

As the health and wellbeing of our staff and residents remains our first priority, many of the changes we've made to our services during the pandemic will remain in place despite legal restrictions lifting. Enhanced safety measures are also still in place within our buildings. Find out more.
