Gateshead Awards 2020 - vote for your winners

The shortlist for the Gateshead Awards 2020 has been announced and the public are being invited to vote for their winners.

The Gateshead Awards take place annually to recognise the contribution of people within the borough who go the extra mile to help their community and to celebrate all those who make a real difference to the lives of others in Gateshead.

Mayor of Gateshead, Councillor Michael Hood, said "This is another very exciting year for the Gateshead Awards. Not only do we have more local businesses supporting the event but we also have two new categories - Business in the Community and Armed Forces Community Achiever.

"All of our nominees are incredibly inspirational, they go above and beyond to help others in Gateshead to thrive. I'd like to encourage everyone to vote for their winners."

The Gateshead Awards 2020 will be sponsored by By The River Brew, Hoults Yard, Gateshead Regeneration Partnership, Gateshead College, Go North East, Intu Metrocentre, Northgate Vehicle Hire, Robertson Construction England and Tarmac.

Voting will close on Friday 15 May 2020.


The categories for the 2020 awards are:

Maureen Chaplin Sports Achiever of the Year - sponsored by Tarmac

Volunteer of the Year - sponsored by Go North East

Voluntary/Charitable Organisation - sponsored by Robertson Construction England

Sports Club of the Year - sponsored by HY Hubs

Carer of the Year - sponsored by intu Metrocentre

Music Group/Musician of the Year - sponsored by Northgate Vehicle Hire

Business in the Community - sponsored by By The River Brew

Armed Forces Community Achiever

The lifetime achievement award, sponsored by Gateshead Regeneration Partnership, and the young achiever award, sponsored by Gateshead College, will also be presented on the night although the winner of this award has been selected by the shortlisting panel.
