Polling district review
Statutory review of polling districts and polling places 2019
Under the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, all local authorities are required to review their polling districts, polling places, and polling stations every five years. The review period starts in October, and must be completed within 16 months. The last compulsory review period was from October 2018 to January 2020.
We completed a review of polling districts and polling places in Gateshead in January 2020.
The review looked at the suitability of polling district boundaries and polling stations. Through consultation, issues about previous arrangements were identified and alternatives, where needed, were determined.
We want to make it as easy as possible for our residents to vote at elections. The next review of polling districts and polling places will take place in 2024.
