Prioritised approach to council budget
We are committed to making Gateshead a place where everyone thrives and we are working to ensure the inequalities that exist in the borough are narrowed.
Following many years of severe cuts to our budget - £170 million less since 2010, and growing demand on vital council services especially in social care, we need to focus on what matters most and take a longer, five-year approach to our priorities and budget planning.
We sought views on a prioritised budget approach to help us direct our resources over the next five years. We also asked for views on our council tax proposal for 2020-21.
The survey closed on 11 February 2020.
A summary of the consultation feedback and engagement undertaken on our prioritised budget approach will go to Cabinet on 25 February 2020.
